The client has specific requirement for the design and construction of the house to meet their needs for energy efficiency, sustainability and to provide a healthy living environment.
Each element of the home has been carefully assessed to provide a significant level of sustainability, performance, quality and comfort. The design and construction has addressed passive solar design and sustainability holistically. Materials have been chosen for the recycled content, sustainability, durability and contribution to the passive design such as thermal mass.
The home remains naturally comfortable due to the passive solar design and thermal mass with minimal requirement for supplementary heating
The passive solar design and thermal mass provided a high level of comfort without the need for air-conditioning through this summer’s heatwave conditions.
The energy efficiency of the home, combined with efficient appliances, lighting and the solar power provided low energy bills giving the client a low cost of living in this home.
Designed to be flexible to cater for the changing needs of the occupants over time. The three bed room layout is ideal for a small family. The third bedroom is able to be utilised as a bedroom, second living area or home office depending on the needs of the occupants.
The Client suffers from allergies and chemical sensitivities requiring additional attention, specifically the low VOC paints, adhesives and joinery materials. A heat exchange ventilation system and polished concrete slab provide a high quality indoor air.
Low maintenance is another benefit to the client with sustainable yet durable material choices with no requirement for ongoing painting and the like.
Truly a success.
Feature Project 2 – World Reach Global Head Office
World Reach Limited is an Australian publicly listed company with strategic ownership of companies involved in the design, manufacturing and distribution of equipment, applications and services to the global needs of Information Communication & Technology markets.
Bios was commissioned to regenerate the World Reach Australian Head Offices so that on arrival, the client is presented with a confident, inspiring and current presence; a space to reflect and reinforce a global corporate brand via contemporary Reception, Board Room and Product Showroom facilities.
Equal priorities were improved comfort, amenity and pride for their valued employees, to be cost effective and fast track construction.
Bios in conjunction with World Reach Limited CEO worked closely to include a sustainable agenda where possible/appropriate. This meant a “no structural changes” approach and entailed refurbishing existing partitions and workstations and procuring new to match where required, procuring used furniture for refurbishing suitable for the scheme, low VOC paints, natural fibre carpets, window tinting & internal screens to control and reduce heating/cooling loads, servicing plant for improved efficiency and upgrading lighting for amenity and efficiency.
